Domestic Visitors make a splash in the Heart of the Great Barrier Reef

The Whitsundays welcomed a record 791,000 domestic visitors to the region in the year up to December 2021, with overnight visitor expenditure up 82.8 per cent from 2019, another record according to the National Visitor Survey (NVS). Domestic visitors enjoyed 3.4 million nights in The Whitsundays. In what was an uncertain time for businesses, individuals and the tourism industry, holidaymakers supported local and saw what was in their backyard.

Hamilton Island Endurance Series – Hamilton Island Hilly Half Marathon

Hamilton Island is best known as a place to relax, but it is also the perfect place to push yourself in paradise. Hamilton Island Endurance Series spans four endurance events from 1 May through to November each year. This May, The Hamilton Island Hilly Half Marathon returns to Hamilton Island. Registrations are now open for the 9^th Annual Tassal Group Airlie Beach Marathon Festival 2022. Held on 16 and 17 July, the festival is the perfect opportunity to be running in The Whitsundays. The course runs along the foreshore from Airlie Beach to Cannnonvale Beach through two marinas.
